More than 2,119 Weber State University students have applied for graduation and will be honored during the 154th convocation ceremonies on Dec. 13, beginning at 8 a.m.

The path to higher education is sometimes steep. The goal of Utah’s three dual-mission institutions is to provide educational steps, so students have flexibility to earn certificates and advance from associate to bachelor’s to graduate degrees.

Junior high students, who have spent an intense summer studying math, engineering and science in Weber State University’s summer-school program known as WSU PREP (Pre-Freshman Program), will host a Closing Celebration and STEM Expo for family, friends and alumni, July 18 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Ballroom.

Weber State University’s Center for Community Engaged Learning-Research Extension (CCEL-RE) has concluded its surveys to measure the impact of the recent partial federal government shutdown on the Northern Utah economy. The 35-day shutdown most notably resulted in increased financial insecurity for federal employees, and increased anxiety and stress.

Weber State University officials expect the class of 2018-19 to total more than 5,988 graduates. So far, 3,160 students have applied for spring graduation and will be honored April 26 at the 153rd commencement at 8 a.m. in the Dee Events Center.
